Blewbury 226 with our bowlers Sam
Crickmore taking 2 - 7 and Tom Wells 1 - 7 Challow 191 Tome Wells top scored with 10 but as we lost 11 wickets at a cost of 6 runs each we never threatened the total. |

Blewbury
253 Challow 243
Chris Garrett top
scored for Challow with 20 no and although they lost less wickets
than in previous weeks just failed to record a victory.
They have now
finished the league programme of 6 matches and whilst losing every game
was disappointing all the players contributed and ended the season
better players. From the opening two games against Blewbury and
Hendred where we lost 11 wickets in each match we only lost
another 20 wickets in the remaining four games. Chris Garrett and Harry
Kent were leading run scorers and Tom Wells, Ben
Skinner and Seb Rey contributed with both
bat and ball. Newcomers to competitive cricket Seb Morris, Jack
Roberts, Henry Wiltshire all improved for the experience. The team was
excellently skippered by Sam Crickmore and all the games were played in
an excellent spirit.

Challow 77 all out in 18
overs (Nigel Hume skipper 26 and Mark Girling 21 no one else made
double figures).
Tiddington 78 - 6 in 18.5 overs ( Kenny Brodie 3 for 7) The big difference was extras as Challow gave away 32 including 21 wides !! We will have to work on this at training on Wednesday. |

Challow
55 for 8 (Pat Wiltshire 17) Didcot 56 for 3 in 14 over (Henry Latimer 22no) The team tried hard and I think still enjoyed it but the lack of runs was disappointing. |
| 11 June Warborough and Shillingford (H) | L |
Warborough 61 all out (Ben
Capstick 2-10, George Vernon 2-13 and Kit Tiker 2-30)
Challow 56 for 5
(Mark Girling 20)
Much better bowling
performance but again the batting was not quite able to bring victory.

| 25 Jun Kennington (H) | L |
Kennington 138 -
2 Challow 108 - 8
A strong Kennington side batted first
and scored a big total as three players retired with 30+ runs. Nigel
Hume got the Challow reply off to a excellent start and we were level
on runs after 5 overs. However once Nigel retired the run rate slowed
but at least everyone got to bat. We passed the 100 mark for the first
time this season and a final score of 108 was very pleasing. |
| 2 July Abingdon Vale (H) | L |
Challow 94 for
8 Abingdon 97 - 6
Challow made a good start
and were 59 for 2 at half way with Kenny Brodie top scoring with 24.
Mark Girling 19 and Conor Jones gave good support but we just failed to
exceed three figures. Abingdon made a more steady start with
Kenny Brodie completing a good match with 2 for 19. T Tierney top
scored with 31 before retiring and with M Burton also in the runs with
19no they secured victory with two overs to spare.

| 6 July Abingdon Vale (H) |
| 1 May Eynsham A (H) | L |
Challow 61 for 8 Top
scorers were Jake Collings 13 and Jack Tinker 12. Challow struggled
against some very good bowling on a wet wicket but did well to post a
reasonable score that if they bowled well would be difficult to get.
Eynsham 63 for 3 in
11.4 overs The bowlers tried but the difference was the opening bat
Omair who made 28 no and steered Eynsham to an easy victory.

Challow 136 for 4 (Nick Burton 53
retired, Luke Jones 44)
Didcot 132 for 7 (R Kenworthy 45 S
Birningham 40)
Nick Burton and Luke Jones added
107 for the 3rd wicket. Didcot having been restricted to 32 for 2
off 10 overs nearly turned it round. R Kenworthy and S Birningham
up the tempo but with 17 needed off the last over they just failed but
it was a excellent game.

| 12 June Dorchester (A) | L |
Challow 110 - 6 (Nigel
Hume 50 retired)
Dorchester 111 - 7
A match that we should
have won but injuries to 3 key bowlers restricted the bowling options
and in the end Dorchester won with more than an over to spare.

| 3 July Hendred (H) | L |
Hendred 84 - 7
Challow 83 all out
Daniel Rey
was the best bowler with 3 for 4 runs from his 4 overs. This helped
restrict Hendred to 84. Given this was the last game of the season we
gave chances to those players that had not batted much during the
season. Jack Tinker got the innings off to a flying start with 14.
However wickets were falling regularly but a partnership of 32 between
Alex Pepper and Chris Teale got the innings back on track. However some
poor running saw three wickets go in rapid succession to run outs and
we agonisingly fell 1 run short of the target.

| 31 July Shrivenham (H) | W |
Challow 115 for
9 Shrivenham 98 for 5 Challow finally got their season under way with a good all round performance leading to a 17 run victory. Dan Hawkins, 21 and Rob Harries, 26 added 50 runs for the opening partnership in 6 overs before D Hoskins took a hat trick to reduce Challow to 50 for 3. The run rate slowed before good contributions from James Mabbett 20 and Nick Burton 17 took the score past the hundred mark. The Challow bowlers all did well and whilst they did not get early wickets runs were hard to come by as after 10 overs Shrivenham reached 41 for 2. C Taylor was the best batsmen on show but with good field placement by skipper Rob Harries he was well contained and was eventually out for an excellent 52 but with overs running out Shrivenham fell 17 runs short. |
| 6 Aug Witney Swifts (A) | Challow 94 all out
(Nigel Hume 49 D Black 4 for 4) Witney
Swifts 92 - 7 13 year old Nigel Hume was the star for Challow as he held the innings together with a fantastic 49 befor becoming one of 4 victims for D Black at the cost of just 4 runs. Challow eventually posted a reasonable 94 all out but they would have to bowl and field well to defend that total. They immediately turned to spin as skipper Rob Harries reeled off his 4 overs claiming 1 for 11 and with Nigel Hume bowling 3 overs for just 10 thay had Witney Swifts behind the clock but they had wickets in hand. At half way Witney Swifts were 31 for 2 and then tried to up the pace. THe bowlers were up to the task and it all came down to the last exciting over. Witney needed 11 with 5 wickets in hand. Bowler Nick Burton took a wicket with the first ball followed by two dots. Witney then hit a 4 leaving them requiring 7 to win from two balls a single followed and despite three byes off the last ball Challow won by 2 runs. This left the U17 undefeated from just the two games it was possible to play. |
